A quiet "Roman" that resists an age of convenience and efficiency
The BED j.w. FORD Autumn/Winter 2026 collection is now arriving at Stactile. This season, designer Shinpei Yamagishi chose the theme "Roman", the Japanese word for romance. The collection was presented on the runway at Paris Men's Fashion Week in January 2026.
The image behind it is a lone man in a long coat that falls below the knee. He appears at a station in the morning and at a crossing at dusk, then disappears into the crowd without drawing anyone's eye. In a time that puts convenience and efficiency first, he finds "Roman" in work made by human hands and in following his own sense of beauty. That quiet resistance runs through the whole collection.
1. Silhouettes that appear in motion
The clothes look classic and restrained at first, but they change expression as the wearer moves. The long coat "From Paris", the symbol of the season, is cut from a double cloth woven with Super 160s wool and finished with a pile on both sides. It looks heavy, yet it is surprisingly light. Tailored jackets form a dimple-like drape below the shoulder, and when you put your hands into the slit inner pockets the outline recalls the sleeve of a kimono. Walking, or simply putting a hand in a pocket, becomes part of the design.
2. Elastic at the cuffs and irregular tucks
Many of the outerwear and knit pieces have a flat elastic band at the cuff for pushing up and holding the sleeve. By changing how the sleeve gathers, the same piece gives a different impression. The trousers, including the wide "Wrinkles" with deliberately asymmetric tucks, leave room for the wearer to finish the shape by hand. The large fringed stole "Romantic" is also essential to this season's styling.
3. Materials that show the human hand
"Roman" is also there in the choice of fabrics. "Deck Denim" and "6 Pockets" use a silk nep denim, with sulphur-dyed yarn in the warp and silk tsumugi yarn in the weft. "or Jacket?" is a wide-wale corduroy with Super 160s woollen yarn on the face and cotton on the back. The stoles and wrap skirts blend Peruvian royal baby alpaca with Australian wool, woven slowly on vintage Schönherr looms. Every one of these fabrics takes time and care to make.
4. The orange of a misty sunset, and a black that is not pure black
The colour palette is muted throughout. An orange that recalls a sunset in the mist, dark tones close to black like the shadows at dusk, and checks used as an accent all blend quietly into the city.
5. Collaboration pieces
We also carry the "Trompe-l'oeil" shoes made with the Japanese footwear brand SUICOKE, the "AE" knit cap and "Kuro" turban made with KIJIMA TAKAYUKI, and argyle socks by CHICSTOCKS.
Delivery schedule
